Peak of the season:You probably won't see dill on the market except during the height of summer, end of July through early August. If they have it at your market, you won't miss it. The bunches can be several feet long, and they give off a sharp, distinctive aroma.
Nutritional value:From its color, you can tell that dill contains vitamins A and C. The amount of dill that is eaten is fairly small. A little goes a long way. So it won't have a serious effect on your diet.
General information:Dill has a distinctive, sharp taste and scent. It is a valuable herb for pickling and cooking. It is excellent when mixed with cream cheese for a bread spread. Unless you are making pickles, one bunch of dill will be more than enough. |
